PRACTICAL TACTICALS

The knives listed here are great practical user knives.  However, as with any knife they can be upgraded with bolsters, guards, buttcaps, file work, more exotic steels and handle materials, etc.  But, we wanted to give you an economical choice here that can get a quality handmade knife into your hands, yet not break your budget doing it.

The main steel we use on these knives is 1095 high carbon.  It is a tried and true carbon steel that is hard to beat for a practical knife steel.  Most of these knives are convex or flat grinds with a convexed edge and are differentially heat treated.  Handle materials are mostly Micarta which is a tough phenolic material that holds up very well.

These knives are usually more readily available and have shorter turn around times than the more complicated knives that have a lot added to them.  If you like the simplicity and rugged look of the knives presented here, you may want to also check out the Frontier/Early American page.  In those days practicality was the driving force in many of those old designs.

If you find something you like just go to the ORDER/QUOTE FORM and fill it out or call or email us.  Thanks for viewing our website.

The FG1 is a mortised tang constructed knife.  The mortise tang runs all the way through the handle and extends out the back with a lanyard hole in the skull-crusher.  This is a very strong design that allows the bottom of the handle to be shaped in various ways - sowbelly, single fingergroove, or multifingergroove.

Base Priced Knife:  It is made of 3/16" 1095 high carbon steel.  The blade is 5" long and has a heavy bevel flat grind with satin finish.  You can get it in drop point or clip point design.  You have your choice of black or brown canvas Micarta for the handle.  We put Aluminum pins in the handle, but it is not necessary because of the way it is constructed and the 3 ton epoxy that we use also.  So if you do not want the pins be sure and let us know.  It comes with a sowbelly handle.  Multi and Singlefingergrooves are a $15 option.  A black or brown leather sheath is furnished with the knife.  Base Price: $195
